The Society was founded in 1899 by a group of dedicated anglers who fished Stanley Reservoir in Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire. Today the Society has grown to be one of the more prominent fishing organisations in the UK with members, made up of seniors, ladies, juveniles, and disabled members from all over the country.

Our Waters

With a good selection of still waters and a number of river stretches to tackle we aim to cater for all types of angling. For canal anglers this year we can now offer three stretches   for you to enjoy. The links below will take your to our full Waters List or our Google Map.

**Important notice re. SOTAS AGM**

Note. If you reside in a Tier 3 Very high Covid Alert Level Area or are experiencing any symptoms Please do not Attend The AGM.
In order to comply with current Covid 19 requirements the date and time of our AGM has had to be changed .
It will now be held on Wednesday 11 November at 7pm
Since numbers will be limited any members wishing to attend must prebook - you will need to supply your name , 2020 membership ticket number, address and contact details.
Please supply these details to the Secretary by Sunday 8th November and you will receive confirmation . You will not be allowed entrance to the meeting if you have not received official confirmation from the Secretary

Draw 8.00am Stanley Head Car Park.

Fish 9.00am - 3.00pm. 3 Rods can be used with proof of necessary Rod Licence.

Stoke-on-Trent Angling Society were proud to be able take 3 participants to the Junior Canal Championships this year. All three were successful in winning a prize. Hopefully we will be able to build on this for next year.

Lets Fish Events

Update 20th October 2020

Congratulations to all those youngsters and parents who helped make the latest events a success. Some nice Fish were caught including Roach up to almost 2lb  and a perch close to 2-lb 8oz. Click Here to see some of the wonderful rewards that they had.

Stoke -on-Trent Angling  Society is proud of the efforts that we make towards encouraging the youngsters of today to be come the anglers of tomorrow. Towards this aim we have again been running Lets Fish events on the Middleport section of the Trent and Mersey Canal. Click Here to view a few photos of the participants and their catches. A great time was had by both the participants and the coaches.

 £1 Juvenile Ticket Retained for 2020

The £1 juvenile ticket has been retained for 2020 with a view to attracting more juveniles.

 

Special rules will apply i.e. child protection, fishing in the same peg with an adult, 3 rods max per peg.

It is hoped that this new initiative will provide a gateway into the sport for the young of today to become the anglers of tomorrow.

The mission of Stoke-on-Trent Angling Society is to manage, serve and promote angling. To assist members and participants in their various forms of involvement in angling. To adhere to all the laws of angling and to encourage and facilitate the involvement of as many people as possible in angling activities.
